    Armutalan

Returned yesterday from two glorious weeks in Marmaris.  Armutalan is good.  Only five minutes and 1 lira by dolmus to Tansas and you get picked up if you are going on a trip.  Plenty of bars/restaurants all in a small area.  We stayed at Club Aladdin which was OK but could do with refurb.  Only thing that spoilt it was Club Happy Days which was across from our apartment.  Too loud music and entertainment (and noisy kids) which we could hear from our pool bar at the back of club aladdin.  All the people in nearby apartments and bars complained about it.  Put you off sitting outside on balcony cos you couldn't hear yourself think. I think it was a Goldtrail hotel.

But .... just get round the corner to the bars and all the fun, dancing and singing you can cope with.  On the way, it was fun being hassled by friendly people to go into eat or go on trips - they are just doing their job.  A big smile usually gets you by with a smile in return.  For us, the Oasis Restaurant was by far the best.  Well run, good food, very friendly and, best of all, the most talented and handsome staff in the whole of Marmaris!  Oh I wish I was there now.

This is such a good way that it gets you out from anywhere.Travel agents should explain this in their meetings.

This is a very good point

    Hi Katie

We were there 8 August for two weeks - 124 sleeps till we are back again!!  We just found the staff at the Oasis so friendly with everyone.  We always had a good evening there.  I have tried to enlarge your photo but it becomes blurred and I can't recognise your bloke.  You both look young and I know there were a few very handsome young waiters!  Have you been to Turkey before and have you stayed in touch with him and are you going back this year?

That was my fourth holiday in Turkey and the second in Marmaris.  I don't feel I want to go any other country but would like to go to see different resorts in Turkey.  Have been to Bodrum - really good - and Kusadasi - ok but wouldn't go back.  Maybe Bodrum in September.  Have to see how my finances are.

    Hi Katie

Don't know if I met Mehmet.  We were there often enough so must have spoken to all the waiters at some time.  The only one whose name I remember is Daniel.  Can't remember his Turkish name but I am sure it wasn't Mehmet.  Too old for you anyway!!  I will make a point of asking for Mehmet when we are there in July.  What company do you work for?   I thought reps got moved around a lot or do you have a choice where you want to go?  It must be very hard having to leave at the end of the season.

We have a dvd of our trips round the bay boat trip on the Mega Diana and have Turkish weekends, either going out to eat at a Turkish restaurant or cooking at home and we watch the dvd and laugh a lot.  The wine helps but we have not managed to buy Turkish wine anywhere.

    Hey hun,

Daniel's turkish name is oktay, he is lovely. You wont be able to ask for Mehmet when you go over in July cos Oasis wont be open this season its closed down, which is a shame.
